Heritage
The Lemuir Group's history and heritage spreads over 67 years, from modest beginnings as a small Customs Brokerage company in 1945 to the present group of companies. Over the years, the Group pioneered important developments in the evolution of India’s transportation and logistics industry.
The growth in the Group’s general cargo services for international transportation, customs clearance and domestic logistics, was supported by the development of a global network of leading service partners, which eventually culminated into a global alliance with DHL Logistics. Other group companies have continued to provide special cargo services.
Lee & Muirhead Pvt. Ltd.
Lee & Muirhead Pvt. Ltd. (L&M), the Group’s flagship company, was acquired by the Parikh family from its promoters in 1945. L&M developed from customs brokerage into a leading logistics service provider.
Today, after merging the general cargo services into the DHL joint venture, L&M provides integrated logistics services for infrastructure and industrial projects and bulk cargo, along with charters, shipping, port handling and related services.
DHL Lemuir Logistics Pvt. Ltd.
In 2003, Deutsche Post World Net (DPWN), the owners of DHL Logistics, and the Parikh family entered into a strategic joint venture DHL Danzas Lemuir Pvt. Ltd. (DDL) for international air and ocean transportation.
In 2007, DPWN / DHL and the Parikh family expanded the joint venture into DHL Lemuir Logistics Pvt Ltd., by combining DDL, Exel India Pvt. Ltd. (a DHL / DPWN acquisition) and Lemuir’s customs brokerage and supply chain services for general cargo.
In 2012, the Lemuir Group decided to strategically focus on their core business of special cargoes, and hence decided to exit the JV with Deutsche Post DHL. DP DHL and Lemuir, through their heritage organisations, have shared a long and fruitful association for over 30 years through agency and joint ventures. The two organisations continue to closely co-operate in areas of common business interest.
